چکیده

247 Abstract: Elevated lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] concentrations are associated with premature coronary heart disease and early myocardial infarction. In the general human population the sizes of apolipoprotein [apo(a)] isoforms are inversely associated with lipoprotein(a) levels. Large isoforms are associated with low Lp (a) and small isoforms with high Lp(a) in the plasma. The size of the polymophism is directly correlated with the number of kringle-4 domains in apo(a). It has been shown by quantitative Southern blotting, and more recently by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis, that polymophism is the result of differences in the number of tandem kringle-4 repeats in the apo(a) gene.

Optimization of PCR-ELISA in Detection of Human Cytomegalovirus Infection

Abstract Background and Objective: Human Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is an important cause of congenital viral infection that can lead to serious diseases and complications in infants. Application of rapid, sensitive, and specific HCMV detection methods is necessary for congenital infection detection. We aimed to optimize the use of PCR and ELISA for detection of HCMV in infants. Material and Methods...

The detection of Klebsiella pneumoniae 16srRNA specific gene by PCR-ELISA technique

Objective: Klebsiella Pneumoniae is one of the most important infection bacteria of the Enterobacteriaceae family. It is also the second factor of hospital bacteremia due to the gram negative bacteria after Escherichia coli. In this research, this bacteria with the private 16SrDNA gene, was identified through PCR-ELISA technique. Materials and Methods: In this method the dNTP labeled with Digox...

Digoxigenin-labeled probes for the detection of hepatitis B virus DNA in serum.

A nonradioactive hybridization assay for the detection of hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA in serum with a digoxigenin-labeled probe is described. The probe was sensitive, being able to detect 0.25 pg of homologous HBV DNA, equivalent to 7 x 10(4) genome copies. After extraction of DNA from clinical samples, the probe detected HBV DNA in 11 of 12 hepatitis B e antigen-positive sera and did not react...

Optimization of apolipoprotein(a) genotyping with pulsed field gel electrophoresis.

BACKGROUND Increased lipoprotein(a) is a risk factor for atherosclerosis, and its concentration in serum is inversely correlated with the size of the apoliprotein(a) [apo(a)] component. The size of the apo(a) gene is determined mainly by the Kringle IV size polymorphism. We have optimized and characterized pulsed field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) for apo(a) genotyping. METHODS Established PFGE...

Rapid Screening of Toxigenic Vibrio cholerae O1 Strains from South Iran by PCR-ELISA

Background: The ability to sensitively detect Vibrio cholera with PCR-ELISA method represents a considerable advancement over alternative more time-consuming methods for detection of this pathogen. The aim of this research is to evaluate the suitability of a PCR-enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for sensitive and rapid detection of V. cholera O1. Methods: The 398-bp sequence of a gene that cod...
